Day 5 of our adventure in Costa Rica we went on a jungle trek for the first time in our lives. This jungle, just north of the Osa Peninsula in Uvita is home to several species of large cats, giant anteaters, 3 species of monkeys, snakes, crocs, caimans, and so much more! The trail started right from our jungle villa at Villas de Oros where we were led by our fearless guide Dobby the dog.
Dobby knew the way the whole time but at one point we didn't trust him and got ourselves lost. Once we listened to Dobby we were back on the trail and what we found was absolutely incredible. This place is the closest thing to paradise we've ever seen. Playa Tortuga, or Turtle Beach, is a remote stretch of beach lined with coconut palms and jungle. A shallow fresh water stream from the mountains was the perfect place to cool off in a setting that cannot be beat. After our hike and a little siesta we had to go back to the Dome Drive-Thru where we got to try their world famous stuffed sweet potatoes! Needless to say we will be going back again!
