It’s almost indescribable to wake up in a jungle villa. The sun rose around 5:30 and so did we to a symphony of birds, reptiles, bugs, and monkeys. Right from our back porch we sat and watched a family of monkeys jump and dance through the canopy for an hour – it was awesome! From there we met up with Tito, Diego, and Carlos from Uvita 360 – Surf, SUP and Kayak and went on a paddle, snorkeling trip to the famous Whales Tale of Uvita. It was the perfect start to our stand-up paddling adventures in Costa Rica!
After we ate some incredibly delicious food with fresh papaya smoothies that were out of this world! After a short siesta Tito and Diego (Costa Rican National Stand-Up Champions) from Uvita 360 showed us the local break that we will definitely be visiting again. Looking forward to more surfing, exploring some sea caves, mangrove swamp paddling, and some whitewater! We love this area and Villas de Oros so much were staying another night for Christian’s Birthday! Happy Birthday my sweet love – the most beautiful lady I’ve ever seen! We Left Buffalo this morning during a snow storm. We weren't sure if we were going to make it out but.... our Pau Hana hats are off to Delta for taking off and getting us to San Jose safely. One of our Pau Hana inflatable boards didn't show up with the rest of the luggage and we had a moment of panic when we were the last ones standing there but a very nice Tico delivered it to us safely.
It was a great reminder of a lesson often learned in traveling. Stay positive and trust in Jah. We've only been here a few hours but already can feel how magical this place is. Tomorrow we get our wheels and are heading to Villas de Oros in Uvita on the Pacific Coast. Can't wait to get in the water!! Pura Vita, WNY Expeditioner - Kevin Cullen Costa Rica
Our adventure to Costa Rica is about to begin. My fiancé/paddling partner and I are about to embark on an epic journey across the pacific coast Surfing, running whitewater rivers on SUP boards and touring on them exploring sea caves and some deep water soloing. Pau Hana has hooked us up with 2 Big EZ Air Inflatable Paddleboards that roll right into a back pack they are soooooo easy to travel with it's ridiculous! Our good friend Jonah from Port Dover Canada has hooked us up with two Boardworks 3 piece travel paddles that we needed in a pinch. While in Costa Rica we will be documenting and filming our experiences. We hope you can follow along! Special thanks to Villas de Oros and the Dome in Uveitis, the Macaw lodge, and the Peace retreat in Plays Negra for hosting us!! WNY Expeditioner - Christian |
